This story is not worth your time, really.

Let me tell you a story, a story about my co-worker Kevin. Kevin is a nice guy, he is very polite and even if you are really boring, he will pretend to enjoy your conversation by responding to everything you say with near-genuine enthusiasm. Now enter “Random iMac Fanatic Guy”, or “Rifg” for short. Rifg came into the store at about 12:40 today trying to find a place to buy a Mac. I was eating lunch, so Kevin went to talk to him. “We do not sell any Macs”, Kevin said “But we do have some pretty cheap used computers”. Kevin was trying to sell one to Rifg when Rifg basically started a rant about how Mac is better than PC, and how Linux is “The nets” as Kurt would say. Naturally, Kevin responds positively to almost everything Rifg says, which makes Rifg think that Kevin is actually interested. So I have been sitting here, reading Penny Arcade for the last half hour, while Rifg tries to convince Kevin that Linux/Mac is so much better than PC. While this is happening, Kevin is just going about his work fixing computers while Rifg stands behind him talking about all the various flavors of Ubuntu, and how customizable Linux Kernels are the best thing to happen to Operating Systems since 1994. At the time of this writing, there was no foreseeable end to the conversation, but Rifg did actually end up leaving the store after a while, but not before he finished assaulting Kevin with BOTH barrels, even though Kevin pretty much agreed wide-eyed the entire time. Several times during the conversation I considered asking the guy what exactly he wanted from us, or if this was a hostage situation, but instead I just went back to reading about the general tomfoolery and wacky hijinks going on at Penny Arcade… Man those guys are crazy.

Symmetry at its finest.

I was at 6:11 at Wildwood on a Sunday night, and Mark Robinson was speaking. He was wearing an Argyle sweater-like thing. As he was talking I found it difficult to focus on what he was saying, because I kept getting distracted by his sweater. Upon further examination I realized that the colored diamonds on his sweater were not symmetrical, so I set out to draw the pattern, and solve his sweater in such a way as to make it symmetrical.

I do not have a picture of his sweater, but I did manage to snap a shot of the result of my work.
Believe it or not, having something to do helps me to pay attention.

Anyway, I put the picture on Facebook, but it was difficult to see some aspects of the sweater, so I loaded up Inkscape and made a vector drawing of it.
I hate Inkscape, by the way.

I switched Black for Grey, since it was closer to Grey in the first place, but also so I would have more room. After I finished that I decided that it still might be hard to figure it out, so I made another one with colored squares.
In Technicolor!

Needless to say, it has been a very fruitful morning here at my house.

Hahaha, complete!

Longest search for a song ever?

… Probably.

I have been looking for a song for the better part of three years, maybe more. I first heard the song at Trinity Baptist Church, it was played during a pro-life video with a voiceover by Dr. James Dobson. The song was just a solo piano playing a few notes with pauses between, but the song stuck with me through the years. In my endeavor I have found two songs that have held similarities. The first song I heard was in a commercial for the Discovery Channel. It is a song by “Jet”, the name of the song is “Stand up”. The part that caught my attention was the underlying piano at the end.

Then just recently, I heard a song that reminded me of the original. I was watching the movie “Definitely, Maybe” (A horrible movie, seriously, do not waste your money), and during the end credit sequence, I heard it. A very simple slow piano melody, similar to the one I had heard so long ago, but not exactly the same.

Needless to say I managed to find these two songs online, and below are short clips of the parts which I am thinking of. I will probably never be able to find the song that I am looking for, but at least it gives me something to do in my spare time. If you know of any songs that sound similar to these (Slow solo piano) please let me know where you found it, or at least a name. It might just be what I am looking for.

“Stand Up”, by the band “Jet”.
“Countdown”, from the movie “Definitely, Maybe”.

Seriously… why?

So a friend and I were talking about the movie League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Do you remember the part where they were going to pick up Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde? Yeah, the part where he is running along the rooftops in London/Britan, with Quatermain and Sawyer chasing him? At one point, Mr. Hyde loses his hat, and one of the characters picks it up and comments on how large it is… If you will notice Mr. Hyde, all of his clothing is ripped, his shirt is literally just shredded cloth, and his pants would have fallen off if he did not catch them. Obviously, his clothing does not increase in size when he drinks the potion. So I leave you, the reader, with this question:

Where did he get such a giant hat? Did he stop by the local Haberdasher after downing a potion for the sole purpose of picking up a size 18 hat, but managed to forget to get fitted for a new suit? Or did he already have one picked out at his home, but forgot his XXXXXL pants and shirt at the drycleaner?
